The Mike Doiron – Legends of Friendswood organization is recognized as a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization and to date has provided in excess of $705,000 in donations to The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, The Friendswood Education Foundation and the Friendswood Independent School District. We are a fully volunteer-operated entity, and have no paid staff. All proceeds from our events are donated to the following two initiatives each year.
The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center:
Over the history of our organization, more than $482,000 has been donated to The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center for critical seed money to develop new innovative protocols and treatments. In 2018 the generosity of our sponsors, donors, and participants allowed us to donate another $25,000 to this cause. We are grateful that the research physicians that utilize our funding continually reach new goals of successful protocols that are really proving positive, life-saving results. We are so thankful and honored to have the numerous cancer survivors and those that honor love ones with their contributions continue to join our fundraising efforts in appreciation to MD Anderson’s life saving mission of Making Cancer History.
Friendswood Independent School District:
Over $223,000 has been given to the Friendswood Independent School District and the Friendswood Education Foundation in the form of grants for the enhancement, development, and enrichment of education within our schools. Our contribution to FISD in 2018 was $10,000 for Science/Technology/Engineering/Math (STEM) program development with contributions towards purchase of 2 new Anatomical Manikins for Health Sciences courses, new Robotics Competition kits to expand the capability of the Robotics I course and the high school, and faculty training for a new Computer Coding Course at the Jr. High. The Legends of Friendswood Organization seeks to fulfill initiatives that will serve the students of FISD broadly throughout numerous grade levels and multiple campuses.
